I am a Camera
By Jan van Druten, directed by the highly talented Robert Hickey
The play is based on Christopher Isherwood's stories about Berlin in 1929/30 and later was used as the basis for the film Cabaret.
The characters are:
Christopher Isherwood - an unsuccessful author
Sally Bowles - a night club entertainer
Frau Schneider - landlady
Natalia Landeauer - a Jewish girl
Fritz Wendel - an impetuous lover
Clive Mortimer - a big, brash American
Mrs Watson-Courtneidge - Sally's mother
The play focuses on Sally Bowles and her relationships with Clive, a rich American who promises her a stage career and then abandons her, and with Isherwood, who Sally insists never inquires about her past.
